Participation Portal

Foreword
With the support of the Carnegie UK Trust, CiNI has set up a Participation Portal, to assist in the development of children and young people’s participation in Northern Ireland.

What is Participation?

• “Participation refers to the extent of children’s involvement in decision making (Alison Gray, 2002).

• It also refers to the range of opportunities for children and young people to express their views and opinions and to be involved in decision –making.

• However, there is no one size fits all with participation, methods must be tailored to the needs and priorities of different groups and individuals.

What is the Participation Portal?

The Participation Portal is a FREE web-based resource which will provide those working with and on behalf of children and young people, with the opportunity to exchange ideas and develop their own practice.

What will you get from the Participation Portal?

  • This will fall in line with Section 75 legislation.
