CareZone [E/NI/S/W]
Target Group: Children and Young People in Care
Target Age Group: 10 to 18
CareZone is a fun and interactive online community exclusively for young people in care.
It’s more than just a website. It’s a virtual 3-D world that is safe for vulnerable young people where they can:
Meet and communicate with each other, using chat rooms, email and instant messaging
Share their experiences of being in care with each other, getting much needed support from those who can really understand
Get advice from our online doctor and Suzie Hayman, our agony aunt
Get information on relationships, money, health or leaving care, to make life that little bit easier
Get help with school from our tutors and learning resources
Give their views on issues which affect them
Store key documents that are important to them
Be who they want to be
Because young people are anonymous in CZ World, it helps them build their self-confidence. They get to make their own choices about how they look, how to decorate their own apartment and who to talk to.
Games, competitions, music, themes and events keep young people interested and coming back for more.
And to ensure the safety of our young people online, CareZone is protected by an RSA security token system, making it one of the most secure websites for children in the world.
Promoting the well being of young people
Working in partnership with local authorities, we help them communicate more effectively with their young people and meet government standards by improving the health, social and emotional well being of those in their care.
Local authorities and care professionals can:
Communicate with their children and share important documents
Provide looked after children with local information and advice
Promote their local health and education services
Consult with their looked after children, using questionnaires and polling tools
