Specific Interest Group?: Young LGBT in N Ireland
How are the Children and Young People involved?
GLYNI operates under a peer-led ethos, providing support for young people aged between 16 and 25 years old who would identify themselves as gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans or, quite simply non-heterosexual. It is a run by a team of volunteers, all of whom are members, and co-ordinated by a senior volunteer, who himself started as a member in the group.
These volunteers manage the daily running of the organisation, e.g. budgets, meetings, email-support and befriending, as well leading the weekly sessions and developing programmes for the group.
GLYNI is a project of Cara Friend Helpline organisation, therefore its members liase with their executive committee to ensure the smooth running of the organisation as whole (albeit GLYNI operates autonomously within this).
GLYNI members are also represented on the CoSO Executive Committee, the ShOut steering committee and in several other youth-service provision organisations.
