JustdoSomething: Teen Zone [UK]
JustDoSomething.net is a website created by Common Purpose, the independent educational organisation which runs programmes for leaders, providing them with information, competencies and networks to help them become better leaders and to improve the way society works.
It contains a searchable online database of board level opportunities - from charity trustees to public appointments, magistrates to school governors - for people who are willing to contribute their skills and experience to community and public life.
For those who not sure who runs what in the UK and how, there’s a guide to how the systems, structures and institutions in the UK work.
The website contains Teen Zone, aimed at young people aged 14-18 and packed with information and resources to help them speak out and involve themselves in issues that affect their lives and communities.
This section of the website includes a range of factsheets, opinion pieces, games, interviews and advice from young people, a campaigning toolkit and a section for teachers which is designed as a useful resource for those teaching citizenship as part of the curriculum. Useful links to other websites are included.
A Feedback facility is provided for young people to use to post their own views about a range of issues.
