Turning up the Sound 04/05 [NI]
Save the Children have been working in partnership with the Youth Council for Northern Ireland, YouthNet and Northern Ireland Youth Forum to explore the feasibility of establishing a consortium or network of child and youth providers. The partnership has recently been joined by Children in Northern Ireland and the Community Foundation.
The aim of a network would be to support and build capacity within the public sector to involve children and young people in a more strategic and sustainable format.
This feasibility study involved interviews and focus groups with a range of stakeholders : young people, public authorities, Departmental representatives, and child and youth providers. The report concludes that there is a clear need for a consortium approach, and makes proposals on the way ahead. These proposals will be taken forward by the partnership during 2005.
