The Commissioner for Children and Young People(Northern Ireland) Order 2003[NI]
The principal aim is to safeguard and promote the rights and best interests of children and young people. The Commissioner has a statutory remit to
“have regard in particular to the ascertainable wishes and feelings of the child and young person� (para6.2b).
The Children’s Commissioner establish a Youth Panel at NICCY so they could communicate the views and opinions of children and young people in Northern Ireland.
Also,
Article 7 (5) states that the Commissioner must ensure that:
• children and young people are encouraged to communciate,
• anything that is published from his office can be read by any child or young person irrespective of age, disability or language they speak,
