Description of Project: The Greater Village Regeneration Trusts exists to galvanise local efforts to articulate and deliver sustainable regeneration in this community of the city of Belfast. Using a holistic approach to Urban Regeneration, we are involved in projects touching every aspect of the community’s life.
How do the Children and/ or Young People participate? : The V2B (Village to Barrington) Youth Forum is the voice of young people in the area. The Youth Forum are involved in setting up and running events for local people in the area as well as acting as a consultative group on issues for young people, service level planning and responding to local and national ploicy.
What did or what has the project/initiative achieved in terms of positive change for the organisation or/and the children and young people? : The Youth Forum is the first of it’s kind in the area and has meant that a cross-section of young people from the Village area has been given a voice and the opportunity to give their opinions on the changes occuring in the village area. The Youth Forum also serves to break down barriers among people in the area as they are involved in setting up community fun days, events for older people, multi-cultural events and hosting visits from other youth groups.
