VOYPIC’s Policy Project, Shaping the Changes[NI]

Age group: Children and young people up to the age of 25 years
Specific Interest group: Looked After Children and young people across Northern Ireland

How are Children and Young People Involved?
The “Shaping the Changesâ€? Project provides opportunities for care experienced young people throughout Northern Ireland to inform and shape legislation, policy and practice which impacts on their lives.  We ensure that the views and opinions of young people with whom we work are fed back to Government, Statutory and Voluntary agencies responsible for the design, delivery and evaluation of services for care experienced young people.

Central to the work and ethos of the project are Sessional Project Workers.  Sessional Project Workers are care experienced young people aged 18 to 25 who are recruited and trained by the project before being employed on a sessional basis.

Employing care experienced young people is at the heart of VOYPIC’s philosophy.  This ensures that every element of our work is informed by the experience of service users.  Sessional Project Workers use their care experience to inform VOYPIC Projects.  They are involved in group work programmes, evaluations, information sessions, research, training etc.
