Youth Link: NI [NI]
Youth Link: NI is the inter-church youth service for Northern Ireland. It was established by the Catholic, Church of Ireland, Methodist and Presbyterian Churches in 1991 and subsequently joined by the Religious Society of Friends and the Non-Subscribing Presbyterian Church.
Youth Link provides a training programme for youth leaders to provide them with the skills to deal with issues in community relations and education for citizenship. All training programmes and events operate with a distinctively Christian ethos.
As part of its training provision it offers opportunities for young people of different traditions and cultural backgrounds to develop mutual understanding, tolerance, acceptance and respect and be active contributors towards reconciliation and building a better society.
Children and Young People’s Involvement: The Youth Link website has an interactive youth zone where young people can:
- Have there say and vote on issues in The Headlines
- View photos from the Youth Link photo gallery
- Participate in quizzes
- Keep up to date on events and meetings through a bulletin board
- Visit the websites of other organisations through links
- Register and take part in an interactive forum
There are two forums running:
A Young People’s Forum where young people can post topics on the issues they want to talk about; and,
A Youth Worker’s Forum for all youth workers to discuss ideas, opinions and methods.
