YOYO: Adolescent Practitioners Forum – Include Youth [NI]

Age Group: 10 to 18 year olds
Specific Interest Group:  children and young people deemed vulnerable

How are Children and Young People involved?
YOYO is a forum for any practitioner, statutory, voluntary and community who interact with vulnerable young people between the ages of 10 and 18. Include Youth has always attempted to be a practitioner-led organisation with our lobbying and policy proposals being led by the workers who interact directly with young people on a daily basis.

In the current climate of limited resources the needs of older children “in need” are all too often subjugated to other priorities. The needs of these children and young people must continue to be highlighted.

Until recently we have not been in a position to be able to undertake practitioner work on a continuous basis and are delighted that we are now better placed to be able to work with practitioners on a more sustained basis. The practitioner’s forum meets quarterly.

Aims:
The overarching aim of this work for Include Youth is that practitioners inform our work:
• To provide the opportunity for practitioners to meet and share experiences and information
• That practitioners share their views and concerns about policies and services for the young people
• To share information and ideas with the young people’s group as well as to undertake some joint work
• To ensure that practitioners are kept informed of developments and proposals.
