This workshop will give participants an overview of the UN convention on the Rights of the Child and the Children NI Order 1995. It will discuss children’s rights and responsibilities and outline state intervention in family life. It provides an overview ?of this legislation and discusses the implications for our own professional practice.

This workshop includes:

•           Basic Introduction to the UNCRC
•           Basic Introduction to the Children (NI) Order 1995
•           Exploring the model of State Intervention in NI
•           Policy context of working with children & young people
•           Examining implications for our own pro practice

This workshop is aimed at workers new to the children’s sector and for those who wish to refresh their knowledge and skills
